Dry Canyon Village
Dry Canyon Village is a community in Central Oregon that is gated and restricted to residents of a certain age. It is located twelve miles north of Bend in the town of Redmond. There are 169 home sites available in Dry Canyon Village, and all of the homes are single-story and range in size from 1100 to 2584 square feet.
The heart of the neighborhood is home to a Community Center that provides amenities such as an indoor saline lap pool, a yoga studio, free weights, a cardio gym, and changing rooms for residents. The whole view of the Central Oregon Cascade Mountains and Smith Rock State Park may be seen from a covered patio located on the upper level. A patio located on the lower level leads to a one-acre private community park that features a fire pit, bocce ball courts, and pickle ball courts.
The people behind the Dry Canyon Village project in Redmond believe their 72-acre development will have a lot to offer the community in terms of open space, trail connections, and multifamily housing options.
From their point of view, the age-restricted, gated subdivision located south of Northwest Spruce Avenue will be the actual jewel of the neighborhood. For residents aged 55 and older, builders Tucker Mayberry, Larry Havniear, and Curtis Havniear plan to construct 176 single-family homes and townhouses, all of which will be accessible only via private streets. A total of 504 residential units are planned to be built as part of the project, which is being driven forward by the planned gated community.
According to Senior Planner Scott Woodford, the master plan application for Dry Canyon Village is the most extensive one that Redmond has received. Additionally, it is the largest project that any of the development partners in the region have ever attempted to complete in the area.
The proposal for Dry Canyon Village plans for single-family homes, fourplex townhomes, and duplexes to be built all-around a four-acre public park located to the north of Spruce Avenue. In the uppermost part of the neighborhood’s northernmost quadrant, a fresh link would be forged to the Dry Canyon Trail. The route that is adjacent to and runs concurrently with NW 19th Street would be paved as part of the developers’ responsibilities.
The land along Northwest Way on the western outskirts of the development has been set aside for multifamily dwellings. The construction plan depicts a 3-acre area in the northwest corner of the neighborhood that will have 80 unrestricted units and a 4-acre section that will be located closest to Spruce and will have 100 units allocated for homeowners who are 55 years old or older.
It is required that new master-planned projects in Redmond contain housing for multiple families, but the implementation of this mandate has been tardy since developers are waiting until the very end of the construction process to begin building the multifamily components of their plans. In the initial phase of construction, the concept for Dry Canyon Village aims for the creation of one hundred residences that will only be available to those aged 55 and older.
